I can’t help but think that the advertisement for the Garnier Eye Roll On (a sort of caffeinated metal chapstick for eyes) neatly sums up the role women are expected to fulfill in our society. It is, the advert quotes, “the next best thing to sleep”.

Well ain’t that just the bees knees. So who cares if your baby’s been crying all night? If you’re finding juggling work, motherhood and household a bit tricky?  Fear not. Here’s a product that will make your droopy eyes artificially perky. You might be shattered, but you’ll still be pretty.
